This will position the city of C\u00f3rdoba at the forefront in Spain in the production of low-carbon copper products, which are key for strategic industrial sectors such as the automotive industry\u2014particularly in the manufacture of electric vehicles\u2014the transport industry, and the electrical sector, both in conventional and renewable energy.<\/p> <p>The new plant, which will be located on a 309,500 m\u00b2 site on the Granada road, four kilometres from C\u00f3rdoba, will produce Grade A copper cathodes (with a copper content of 99.99%) from recovered materials (scrap). This will make it possible to replace a significant portion of the primary copper (sourced from mining) currently used as a raw material for the production of wire rod (an intermediate product used in the manufacture of copper products).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58b5857 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"58b5857\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2274284 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2274284\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In order to manufacture this \u201cgreen copper wire rod\u201d, a new electrolysis process will be developed and implemented, capable of producing 100,000 tonnes per year of Grade A cathodes from copper anodes sourced from recycled materials.<\/p> <p>The company is currently awaiting a response from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) regarding its request to include the project in the PERTE (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation) programme, which was submitted a few months ago.
